FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- Congers, N.Y. – (February 5, 2009) - Star Kay White Inc. has made a decision to conduct a voluntary recall of its products that contain peanuts processed at our Congers facility as they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. Star Kay White Inc. purchased all of its peanuts from the Peanut Corporation of America (PCA) during 2007 and 2008. This recall action is as a result of the PCA expanded recall of January 28, 2009 for all products manufactured in their Blakely, Georgia facility since January 1, 2007.
Salmonella is an organism, which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis. The products below were distributed to ice cream manufactures in the states of New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Florida, Texas, Utah, California, Iowa, Nevada, Missouri and Indiana.
Star Kay White Inc. does not have direct sales to the public. All products are sold as ingredients to dairy manufacturers for inclusion in frozen desserts.

The products being recalled by Star Kay White Inc. have had no direct link to the Salmonella outbreak, and there have been no reports of illness due to our products.
All manufacturers that have any of the Star Kay White Inc. products listed above or finished goods containing these products, as ingredients in their facility should place them on hold. All finished products containing Star Kay White Inc. products listed above as ingredients that are in the market place should be recalled immediately.
