FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- April 20, 2009—Mave Enterprises, Inc. of Los Angeles, CA is voluntarily recalling all Pistachios sold under the It’s Delish label in 10 oz., 7 oz, and 3.5 oz. size packages because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. This voluntary recall is being conducted as a precautionary measure due to the fact that the in-shell pistachios are being recalled by Setton Pistachio of Terra Bella, Inc.
Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstance, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.
The Pistachios were sold from September 1, 2008 to April 13, 2009, in retail stores throughout Southern California as well as some retail stores in Nevada and one store in Mercer Island, Washington. The product is packaged in 10 oz., 7 oz, and 3.5 oz. clear bags with UPC codes of 7-99137-20601, 7-99137-20604, and 7-99137-20602.
The lots numbers for the recall are:
3.5 oz bag: Lot # 11065768, c-031709, c-031209, c-031009, and c-030909
7 oz bag: Lot # 02075768, c-031609, and c-031209
10 oz bag: Lot # 02075768, c-031509, c-031209, c-031009, and c-030909
The lot numbers can be found stamped on the back of the bag under the barcode.
No illnesses have been reported to date for this product.
Consumers who have purchased It’s Delish brand Pistachios may return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with any questions may contact the company at 877-433-5474, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Pacific Time.
