Dr. Samuel Holmes Sheppard, an osteopath, was the husband of Marilyn Reese Sheppard. Marilyn Sheppard was murdered on July 4, 1954. Sam Sheppard was tried and convicted for his wife's murder in December of 1954 and was sentenced to life in prison. In 1967, the conviction was set aside. Sheppard was subsequently retried and acquitted. Sam Sheppard remarried and he and his wife planned to live on the French Riviera according to news articles. The file consist mostly of newspaper clippings and third party letters sent to the FBI giving the FBI their opinion about the murder. Dr. Sheppard died in 1970.
