Teaching with Lincoln was created by Teaching with Primary Sources consortium members as a tool for educators of any grade level or discipline. We hope this page becomes a repository of Lincoln related resources for teachers and highlights the digitized primary sources of the Library of Congress.
Organized into two main sections, this page features a Personal Life timeline and a Professional Life timeline. Each timeline highlights significant events in Lincoln's life and career. Each year also features additional information for Teacher Resources, Student Resources, Library of Congress Primary Resources and Other Resources.
This site is a living document and we hope it will grow! If you would like to recommend a link for either section please feel free to let us know. We are always looking for new ways to bring information about President Lincoln to our students and colleagues.
Some of these resources have been created by educators participating in Teaching with Primary Sources professional development. Others are activities incorporating digitized primary sources from the Library of Congress. Lessons and activities outside of the Library of Congress and Teaching with Primary Sources sites have not been vetted by this site.
The Teaching with Primary Sources Program works with colleges and other educational organizations to deliver professional development programs that help teachers use the Library of Congress’s rich reservoir of digitized primary source materials to design challenging, high-quality instruction.
