on a wide range of legal and policy matters in the national
security and criminal arenas.
Lisa’s record of achievement as both a criminal
prosecutor and a legal and policy advisor in criminal and
national security matters make her exceptionally well-suited
for this position,” said Director Robert S. Mueller,
III. “She has a record of achievement in public service
and has played an important role during an important time
for the FBI. I look forward to her continued contributions
as Deputy Chief of Staff,” Mueller said.
As Deputy Chief of Staff, Ms. Monaco will continue to
spearhead priority projects, provide advice and counsel

From May 2004 to January 2006, Ms. Monaco served as a
prosecutor on the Enron Task Force charged with investigating
criminal violations in connection with the collapse of

in the prosecution of five former executives of Enron Broadband
Services, a business unit of Enron. Ms. Monaco received
the Attorney General’s Award for Exceptional Service,
the Department’s highest award, for her work as a
prosecutor on the Enron Task Force.
Ms. Monaco has served as an AUSA since January 2001, trying
numerous jury trials and arguing appellate cases before
the District of Columbia Circuit Court of Appeals and D.C.
Circuit. While at the United States Attorney’s Office
she prosecuted violent crimes, drug offenses, fraud, and
corruption cases. She received a Special Achievement Award
each year during her tenure as an AUSA.
Prior to joining the United States Attorney’s Office,
Ms. Monaco served as Counsel to the Attorney General from
September 1998 to January 2001. In that position she provided

oversight matters. From 1997 to 1998, Ms. Monaco was Law
Clerk to the Honorable Jane R. Roth, United States Court
of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
Ms. Monaco earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1990
from Harvard University where she was awarded Magna
