At approximately 5 p.m., closing time, on January 23, 2008, an unknown suspect entered a bank in Somerville, Massachusetts, displaying a black semi-automatic handgun. He led the bank employees downstairs, bound them, and put them on their knees facing the wall. The suspect forced the bank manager to open the safe and empty its contents into duffel bags. He also obtained the currency from the cash drawers from the teller lines. The suspect took the bank manager's car keys and fled the bank in that vehicle. During the robbery, the suspect may have been communicating with an accomplice outside the bank who may have been monitoring a police scanner and acting as a lookout.
