Research Saves Lives

• Heart disease, stroke and other forms of cardiovascular disease remain the No. 1 and most costly killer in the United States, taking the lives of far too many loved ones and friends each year. Medical research is our best defense—leading to new ways to prevent, treat and even cure heart disease and stroke.

• You can help today! Americans need more funding for heart disease and stroke research, not less. Sadly, our nation’s investment in medical research supported by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) has declined over the last five years. NIH continues to invest only 4% on heart research and a mere 1% on stroke research. More funding could enable the NIH to support promising heart and stroke studies that could lead to a cure.
