U.S. Capitol Building Power Outage

4:18 p.m.

There was a power outage today at approximately 12:00 p.m. at the United States Capitol. This was the result of a power spike that affected a large portion of the Metropolitan Area. The spike knocked out power to the Capitol building and caused lights to flicker throughout the Capitol complex. The Capitol was evacuated in response to the power outage. Power was restored and the Capitol Police opened the building for re-entry at approximately 1:30 p.m.
