Mail Procedures

Due to time sensitivity and importance of correspondence related to NMB cases, we will continue to use electronic mail, facsimile, and overnight delivery services to provide an efficient delivery system.

E-mail, facsimile, and overnight delivery may be used according to the following guidelines.

1. Electronic Mail. The NMB will accept regular filings (with the exception of applications) via email. Electronic filings should be sent to the appropriate department as follows:

Office of Legal Affairs: Legal@nmb.gov
Office of Mediation: Mediation@nmb.gov
Office of Arbitration: Arb@nmb.gov

2. Facsimile. Documents requiring an original signature, including applications, may not be sent by facsimile. They must be sent by an overnight delivery service or by regular mail. Letters and other correspondence not requiring original signatures may be sent by facsimile. The facsimile page limitation of 30 pages has been reinstated. Facsimiles should be sent to the appropriate department as follows:

Office of Legal Affairs: 202-692-5085
Office of Mediation: 202-692-5084
Office of Arbitration: 202-692-5086
Public Information: 202-692-5083
Office of Administration: 202-692-5081
Office of the Board: 202-692-5082

3. Overnight Delivery Service. Other documents and packages (including authorization cards) may be sent by overnight delivery using an overnight carrier that has a tracking system which identifies the sender and the sender's location. It must also have a return name, address and phone number (and case number, if appropriate). Any overnight delivery which does not have a return address and is not delivered by a service with a tracking system will not be opened.

4. Postal Mail. Anything sent by the U.S. Postal Service should be sent to: 1301 K. St. NW, Suite 250 East, Washington, DC 20005-7011.
