I was born in St. Michael in 1956 and am a lifelong resident of Unalakleet. I am married to Zoe Louisa and have 3 wonderful children, Kelsi Marie-20 attending Portland State, Ralph Keoni-16, and Gage Stephan-11.
I graduated from Covenant High School in Unalakleet and attended Oregon State University.
I work for Kawerak, Inc., as a transportation planner; for the Bering Strait School District as a recreation director and a high school boys’ basketball coach; and am a self-employed fisherman participating in the Norton Sound herring, salmon, and crab fisheries.
I currently serve our community and region under these elected positions:
- Alaska Federation of Natives board member, representing the Bering Straits Villages
- Bering Sea Fishermen’s Association board member.
- Bering Straits Native Corporation board member
- Unalakleet Native Corporation board member
I also serve in these appointed positions:
- Norton Sound Seafood Products fishery workgroup
- Denali Transportation Committee
- Alaska Climate Change Adaption Advisory Group
I am a volunteer member of Alaska Tribal Transportation Assistance Program Workgroup.
I thoroughly enjoy hunting, fishing, and subsistence harvesting activities with my family.
