Office of Inspector General Mission
Under Public Law 109-55, August 2, 2005, Congress established the United States Capitol Police Office of Inspector General (OIG). The Inspector General (IG) reports directly to the United States Capitol Police Board, and heads OIG. The OIG supervises and conducts audits, inspections, and investigations involving USCP programs, functions, systems, or operations.
OIG is also responsible for:
- Promoting economy, efficiency, and effectiveness in the administration of USCP programs and operations;
- Preventing and detecting fraud, waste, abuse, and mismanagement in USCP programs and operations and;
- Reporting to Congress on OIG activities.
