What are alt tags?

Answer

Alt tags convey in text available to screen readers the information presented with images and other non-text objects on a page. Alt tags are typically used to identify pictures and are typically relatively brief.

Alt tag example

Alt tags for decorative images are written so that assistive technology skips over them. This is done by using a null alt tag.
