Where You Live

The Sustainable Skylines Initiative began with pilot projects in two cities - Dallas, Texas and Kansas City, Kansas and Missouri. The initiative is now being expanded into a national effort with a goal of 10 areas in the program by the end of 2010.

Region 6 - Dallas

Dallas was the first pilot project.  The city of Dallas, the North Central Texas Council of Governments, and the EPA signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) launching the initiative in March 2007.  They met with 60 stakeholders and identified 7 projects:

Region 7 - Kansas City

Kansas City (includes both Kansas and Missouri) initiated their effort in July 2007 and held a formal MOU signing event with all stakeholders on January 30, 2008.  Projects include:

Region 3 - Philadelphia

Region 3 is the first of our national expansion. The Region, through a competitive selection process, recently selected Philadelphia.  They are currently in the process of selecting project activities.  More information will be available soon.

 

Other Regions

A Request for Application soliciting additional cities wanting to join the effort was issued by EPA in October 2008.  The applications received have been reviewed and scored.  Recipients will be announced later this spring.
