National Health Security Strategy

The purpose of the National Health Security Strategy is to bring the patchwork of public health and medical emergency preparedness and response plans under a single strategy in order to strengthen the community role in preparedness, to integrate response systems, to create a framework for accountability and continuous improvement, and to improve coordination at all levels. The resulting National Health Security Strategy (NHSS) will provide a common vision for how we as a nation achieve health security. The NHSS is a quadrennial strategy that by mandate includes an implementation plan and evaluation framework. The first Strategy is due to Congress in December 2009.
