Scrap Tire Management
in the Southeast
Every year, the Region 4 states face the task
of managing millions of scrap tires generated by the growing population
of the southeast. Fortunately, markets exist for the majority of these
scrap tires. These
markets include
ground rubber, rubberized asphalt, civil engineering applications, and
tire-derived fuel. Through these innovative uses of scrap tires, markets
for scrap tire material continue to grow throughout Region 4. Region
4 and the southeastern states participate in a national work group to
increase communications between state regulators, market development officials
and industry. The goal of the work group is to support existing markets
while continuing to seek out innovative new market ideas.
Join forces with Scrappy Green Recycles to recycle tires for eco-safe playgrounds and beautification projects on their 1st Annual Go Green Tire Drive starting on Earth Day, April 22, 2008 and continuing into November. Scrappy Green Recycles is a non profit organization dedicated to the collection and beneficial reuse of scrap tires. Find out more about them at: http://scrappygreen.org/default.aspx
