Rice student sheds a new light on jaundice
For almost 50 years, doctors have treated jaundice — a potentially deadly condition that is depicted by the yellowing of the skin — in newborn babies with an array of blue lights. But in some corners of the world, there isn't enough light to cure every baby. With the help of a Rice bioengineering student, that's about to change.
