NOTE TO CORRESPONDENTS | Print Media: 301-827-6242 |
July 3, 2002 | Consumer Inquiries: 888-INFO-FDA |
FDA will shortly publish a Federal Register notice extending the time period for public comment on how FDA regulation of commercial speech can most effectively safeguard the public health while also complying with First Amendment protections.
FDA originally solicited public comment on this matter in a May 16, 2002, Federal Register notice, which set July 30, 2002, as the deadline for submitting responses to those comments. In response to several requests from the public, FDA is extending each comment period by 45 days. The new deadline for original comments is September 13, 2002, and the deadline for responses to comments is October 28, 2002. The deadlines are being extended to allow potential respondents more time to research and complete their submissions.
Written comments may be sent to the agency at: Dockets Management Branch, Food and Drug Administration, 5630 Fishers Lane, rm. 1061, Rockville, MD 20852. Submit electronic comments to http://www.fda.gov/dockets/ecomments.
