The Illinois Department on Aging provides comprehensive and contemporary educational offerings for aging service agencies. Many of the trainings offered by the Department are available for continuing education credits for nursing home administrators and social workers.

A Day of Celebration and Conversation about the Civic Engagement of Older Adults May 11, 2009, 9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. State Capitol, Springfield
Join the members of the Illinois Team participating in the National Governors Association Policy Academy on the Civic Engagement of Older Adults for an awards ceremony, Senate forum and a celebration of Older Americans Month and AmeriCorps Week. Also featured will be discussions and workshops on:
- Older learners
- Volunteer management
- Older workers and second careers
- Public policy
- Healthy aging
- Civic engagement and citizenship
- Intergenerational service and learning
Who Should Attend?
- Older and younger generations with a commitment to civic engagement
- Those who envision a greater role for older Illinoisans in service, education and the workforce
- Educators, policymakers, business, aging experts and community developers
- The volunteer sector, retiree organizations and students of all ages
- Citizens aged 50+ who want to learn more about getting engaged
