Q2: How often is the Government meal rate changed?
A2: Every year the rate is reviewed and revised, if necessary, by the OSD Comptroller. The new rates are effective 1 January 2009.
Q3: What rate do midshipmen and cadets use?
A3: Effective 1 October 2008 the meal rate for cadets/midshipmen is equivalent to the Enlisted Basic Allowance for Subsistence (BAS) rate.
Q4: Is the rate changing for 2009?
A4: Yes. The FY 2008 Standard Government Meal Rate of $9.80 (total of breakfast, lunch and dinner) is raised to $10.80. See Table above for the breakdown of individual meal and surcharge amounts.
