(April 28, 2000)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The Office of Inspector General (OIG) completed an inspection NASA's badging program and physical access controls at the Marshall Space Flight Center. The objective was to focus on whether policies and procedures are in place to adequately control access to facilities including mission critical locations and facilities containing sensitive or controlled information or materials. NASA concurred with the report's three recommendations that addressed improved security controls and operational effectiveness. Nine other recommendations were addressed and corrected by Marshall management during the course of our inspection.
