As with domestic U.S. cases, state child support enforcement agencies also provide services for international cases. The U.S. Government negotiates Federal-level reciprocity agreements with foreign countries on behalf of all U.S. jurisdictions. Canada is a little different; the U.S. has agreements with the Canadian Provinces and Territories individually, rather than with Canada as a whole. The list of countries with which the U.S. has agreements is: Australia If there is not a Federal-level agreement, your state may have an agreement with foreign
countries to regcognize child support judgments across international boundaries.
Information on which countries particular states have child support agreements with can be found at: These international child support agreements specify procedures for establishing and enforcing child support orders across borders. While requirements for getting enforcement action may vary depending on the other nation involved, a parent will be asked to provide the same information as in a domestic case, including as much specific information, such as address and employer of the noncustodial parent, as is possible |
