Federal stimulus bill
American Recovery And Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009 |
ARRA will help unemployed workers by:
- Increasing unemployment checks by $25 per week
- Excluding the first $2,400 of unemployed benefits from federal tax
- Allowing more individuals to qualify for extended unemployment benefits by extending the deadlines for application and payment
- Providing a federal subsidy of 65 percent of monthly COBRA premium for up to nine months
Accessing Unemployment Insurance Online Services
About 60,000 Unemployment Insurance (UI) claimants conveniently certify for weekly benefits online via WebCert. Once online, claimants can also access these services:
• | Check the status of their claim | • | Verify the amount and date of the most recent benefit payment |
• | Print a copy of the 2008 Tax Form 1099-G | • | Initiate or change federal or state tax withholding deductions |
• | Set up, cancel or change Direct Deposit payments |
Tip: Claimants initiating a new UI claim can expedite the processing of their claim by providing their severance pay information online.
