Domestic Travel

Domestic or CONUS (Continental US) travel is considered to be the 48 contiguous states excluding Alaska and Hawaii.

Important Information

Local Travel: 50 miles or less from your duty station and includes parking, taxi, and mileage fees.  Local travel vouchers should not be used to capture omitted or forgotten expenses from a previously paid travel voucher.

Ticketing: Do not upgrade your seats with the airlines if your ticket has not been issued. This may cause you to lose your reservation.

Hotels: Do not contact the hotel directly for reservations or changes.  Use GovTrip or Omega Travel as appropriate.

Reservations: Reservations made in GovTrip should be cancelled in GovTrip. Reservations made directly with Omega should be cancelled directly with Omega.

Car Rental: Decline any additional liability or collision insurance while on official Government business.  These are included in the Government rates.

Planning a Trip

  • Traveler Information - Know what you can take, bring back, wear at airports.

  • City Pair Pricing  - Listed as one-way fares to allow for multiple destinations. Include taxes, but not other fees (e.g., segment fees, security fees and fuel surcharges).

  • Baggage Fees - New regulations regarding fees for additional baggage may apply to your travel.

  • Per Diem Rates  - subject to change throughout the fiscal year.

  • Rail - All reservations must be made using GovTrip. Add delivery address and the ticketing date to your travel authorization to avoid the full touch fee.Exit Disclaimer

  • Fed Room Listing - for federal government travelers while on official business.

Completed Trip:

  • Important Information

    • Submit vouchers within 5 days of your return from travel status.

    • Although GovTrip populates your voucher from information displayed in your authorization, you should create a voucher using your receipts.
