TVA Asks for Comments on Proposed Transmission Project

February 5, 2009

BRUCE, Miss. – To improve the reliability of electric service to the area, TVA is proposing improvements to its transmission system in Calhoun County and is encouraging public input at an open house in Pittsboro on Feb. 18.

Improvements include a proposed new Pontotoc Electric Power Association substation and approximately five miles of new TVA 161-kilovolt transmission line. The line would extend from TVA’s existing Calhoun City - Coffeeville 161-kilovolt transmission line northeast to the proposed substation site in southwest Bruce. Several alternative routes from a network of 11 possible line segments are being considered for the proposed line.

TVA will present the alternative routes at an open house to be held from 3-7 p.m. CST at the Calhoun County Agri-Center Multi-Purpose Building, 121 Parker St. (off State Highway 9), in Pittsboro.

Detailed maps showing the network of alternative routes for the proposed power line will be available, and TVA staff will be on hand to answer questions, discuss potential concerns and receive comments on the proposals. A map is available.

For additional information about the project or to submit comments, contact Allen Miller, TVA, 1101 Market St. (MR 4G), Chattanooga, TN 37402-2801, call toll free 800-362-4355, e-mail newtransline@tva.com or visit TVA’s website. The deadline for comments is March 20.
