Provide
a consistent emphasis on high risk activities, programs,
and issues involving hazard trees and tree felling to
meet the safety needs of the agencies and firefighters.
Provide ongoing information, education, and recommendations
on the important roles that leadership, supervisors, sawyers,
and individual employees have in managing and mitigating
tree hazards.
On
January 25, 2006, the National Wildfire Coordinating Group
(NWCG) assigned the Safety and Health Working Team (SHWT)
to review and evaluate the two recommendations proposed
to NWCG by the National Park Service (NPS) in implementing
two action items from the Holmes Fatality Corrective Action
Plan. In response to this request, the SHWT chartered
an interagency Hazard Tree and Tree Felling (HTTF) Task
Group to focus attention on this high risk issue facing
wildland firefighters and all employees assigned to work
in forested, wildland environments. |
