Polymer Nanowire Lasers and Antennas for Nanophotonics
Polymer Nanowire Lasers and Antennas for Nanophotonics

Date: Monday, April 6, 2009
Time: 4:00 PM
Location: 125 Steele, Caltech
Speaker: Deidre O'Carroll

Conjugated light-emitting polymers are a relatively new class of semiconducting material and are of interest due to their processability from solution, and, their strong, room-temperature excitonic optical transitions. Photonic nanostructures incorporating these materials have recently been employed to control and direct excitons on the nanoscale. This talk will discuss the fabrication and operation of conjugated polymer nanowire optically pumped lasers, light-harvesting elements and heterostructured optical antennas, which are promising device elements for integrated nanophotonics.
