The Advisory Council will provide Attorney General Reno and Secretary Shalala with practical and general policy advice concerning the implication of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), which was enacted as part of the 1994 Crime Bill. In addition, the Advisory Council will work to bring national attention to the problem of violence against women and increase public awareness of the need for improved strategies to curb these crimes.
WHAT: Advisory Council on Violence Against Women DATE: Thursday, July 13, 1995 TIME: 10:00 a.m. PLACE: The White House Conference Center 726 Jackson Place, N.W.The Advisory Council will be composed of 40 members from a broad range of professions, including law enforcement, public health, business, academics, journalism, victim advocacy, religion and entertainment.
