Sullivan, M.D., will present actress/author Suzanne Somers with the Secretary's Award for Distinguished Public Service on Tuesday, November 5, 1991, at 2:30 p.m. The ceremony will be held in the Department of Health and Human Services Great Hall, 200 Independence Ave., S.W., Washington, D.C. 20201. Ms. Somers will be honored for her efforts to educate the public about the impact of alcoholism on the family. ABC Entertainment will also be honored for their community service in airing "Keeping Secrets," a made-for-television movie of Somers' life as the child of an alcoholic. The movie prompted thousands of viewers to call the HHS Information Clearinghouse's 1-800 number for help. ###
