Stegal Mountain is an example of a glade habitat. It is located in the Missouri Department of Conservation's Peck Ranch Wildlfie Area.
There's lots to do in the Ozarks. Besides the Ozark Riverways, there are state parks, conservation areas, craft shows, resorts, and small towns filled with resturants, antique shops and "local color." Explore some of these links to learn more, but don't forget to come back!

Cane brakes are thick stands of rivercane, which is much like bamboo. The endangered Swainson's Warbler nests in these thickets. Many stands have been lost to reservoir impoundments throughout the South, but many stands are protected at Ozark National Scenic Riverways. More at www.nps.gov/ozar
