[franklin-users] Change in Schedule - Franklin Stabilization and I/O Upgrade Plans |

| Dear Franklin users,
The schedule for the following portion of the I/O Upgrade has been
changed:
ALL /scratch DATA will be PERMANENTLY ERASED on Tuesday, March 31

Due to the installation of new I/O hardware and other stability
improvements the /scratch file system must be reformatted. In
addition, /scratch will be separated into two file systems.
This will improve availability in the event of hardware failures,
will improve "metadata operations" such as issuing the ls command,
and has the potential of improving contention and isolating the
impact of large IO jobs. The total number of nodes used for serving
I/O will be more than doubled and each of the two scratch file
systems will have the bandwidth of the existing /scratch. Information
on how to use two scratch file systems will be available later in March.
All other dates in the schedule remain the same. For more information on
