Subject: [franklin-users] clarification of Franklin /scratch rebuilt on Feb 25

Dear Franklin users, It is discovered from today's NUG meeting that some users are unclear about the extent of Franklin /scratch file system rebuilt on Feb 25 as a result of a DDN disk controller failure. This message is to clarify that all the data existing on /scratch before the rebuilt were permanently lost, and we don't have a backup for the Franklin /scratch file system. Users need to recover their data from HPSS or via rerun of their jobs. NERSC provides free charging period from February 25 to March 8 for this purpose. Charging will resume from Monday, Mar 9.
