Comparative Effectiveness Research Council Open to Public
The Federal Coordinating Council for Comparative Effectiveness Research will hold its second public listening session on Wednesday, May 13, in Chicago. The council will hear public comments regarding comparative effectiveness research and the Council's activities. Individuals can have three minutes for oral presentation.

Focused on "Thriving" Mental Health
May 7 is National Children's Mental Health Awareness Day, meant to promote youth development, resilience, recovery and the enhancement of mental health services for children and youth with mental health needs and their families.

2008 Reports Key to Health Care

New OMH Funds Target HIV/AIDS Outcomes for Ex-Offenders
Approximately $2 million is available for 8 to 10 new, competitive, cooperative agreements under the HIV/AIDS Health Improvement for Re-entering Ex-Offenders Initiative. Deadline: May 22.

Tribal Foster Care, Adoption Grant Applications Sought by Administration for Children and Families (ACF)
Approximately $1.5 million is available to tribes, Tribal organizations and Tribal consortia to develop foster care, adoption assistance and guardianship assistance programs. Deadline: June 19.

Lupus Campaign Launched
The Office of Minority Health and Office on Women’s Health are joining the Ad Council to raise awareness about the issue of lupus and women. The campaign has garnered support from national lupus organizations and will be disseminated to all forms of media.

Increased Funding for Health Centers
HHS announced the plan to increase funding to community health centers by $338 Million, under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, in order to meet with the increased demand on services.
