What's NEW with the O*NET System?

The O*NET 10.0 Database is now available. It is the sixth of planned twice-annual updates of the O*NET database, and brings the number of comprehensively updated occupations to 580. Highlights include:

  • New and revised Task Statements for 50 O*NET-SOC occupations
  • Addition of Task Statement ratings (importance, relevance and frequency)
  • Updated Abilities, Work Activities, Knowledge, Skills, Job Zone and Work Context data
  • Addition of Work Context data
  • Addition of Training, Work Experience and Education data
  • Addition of Work Styles data
  • Incorporation of O*NET-SOC 2006 taxonomy
Supplemental files include updated emerging tasks, additional detailed work activities, and additional tools and technology (T2) data.

The newly updated and revised O*NET OnLine application is powered by the latest O*NET Database. The OnLine interface has been refined with new search capabilities, browsing possibilities, crosswalks, and report presentations. Click here to get O*NET OnLine.

A Spanish O*NET 4.0 Database has been released by the U.S. Labor Department to help serve the occupational information and career exploration needs of the U.S. Hispanic population. The Spanish version maintains the same format and file structure as the English version to facilitate incorporation into Spanish language occupational information applications by developers and vendors. The Spanish database is available for download, at no charge, from the O*NET Center...

The full slate of O*NET Career Exploration Tools, including the O*NET Interest Profiler, Computerized Interest Profiler, Work Importance Profiler, Work Importance Locator, and Ability Profiler, have been released by the U.
