Treatobacco.net provides evidence-based data and practical support for the treatment of tobacco dependence. It is aimed at physicians, nurses, pharmacists, dentists, psychologists, researchers, and policy makers. Treatobacco.net is produced and maintained by the Society for Research on Nicotine and Tobacco, in association with the World Bank, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the World Health Organization, the Cochrane Group, and a panel of international experts.

The Health Consequences of Smoking: A Report of the Surgeon General
Released in May 2004, this report reveals that smoking causes disease in nearly every organ of the body. It expands on the list of illnesses and conditions linked to cigarette smoking that was discussed in the 1964 Surgeon General's Report on Smoking.

Guide to Community Preventive Services: Tobacco Use and Control
This guide, released by the CDC in 2001, provides recommendations to decision makers about the types of interventions most appropriate for reducing tobacco use and exposure for different populations. Recommendations are based upon the strength of the evidence for each intervention type according to a systematic review process and are helpful to decision makers when selecting an intervention for specific groups or individuals.
