FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- March 19, 2009 -- Wilcoxson’s Ice Cream Co., Inc. of Livingston and Billings, Montana is recalling Nutty Royale Cones distributed between May 2007 and July 2008, because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. The Nutty Royale Cones were manufactured using peanuts recalled by Peanut Corporation of America because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.
The Nutty Royale Cones were distributed in Montana and Northern Wyoming through retail outlets prior to July 2008.

The product does not have a lot code. Recalled products were distributed to retail locations prior to July 2008, products distributed after that date are NOT effected by the recall.
No known illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this product. The recall was initiated after it was determined that the peanut product received was manufactured by Peanut Corporation of America. Wilcoxson’s Ice Cream Co., Inc. has informed FDA of its actions and is fully cooperating with the Agency.
Consumers who have purchased Nutty Royale Cones are urged to destroy them or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 1-406-222-2370 8 am to 4 pm MDT, Monday through Friday.
