REASON FOR
ALERT: In February, 1995, NYK-DO was notified of a firm
initiated recall of Paul Revere brand silverware
coffee set. Private laboratory analysis indicated
the presence of leachable lead in excess of the
guidelines in CPG ***545.500.*** An average of 138
ppm lead was found in the teapot by the New York
regional laboratory. Violative lead levels were
found in the coffee pot unit of the set.
In April, 1995, BLT-DO analyzed a silver-plated
coffee pot and an average of 229 ppm lead was
detected by the Cincinnati forensic laboratory. It
was later determined that the product tested by
BLT-DO and the product under recall in NYK-DO were
manufactured by the same firm.
GUIDANCE: Districts may detain, without physical examination,
