               pursuant to Section 801(a)(3) in that it appears to
               contain insects, rodent hairs, bird feathers, bat
               hairs, cat/dog hairs, and mites [Adulteration,
               Section 402(a)(3)]."

REASON FOR
ALERT       :  Since October of 1995, San Francisco district has
               detained eight (8) entries of salted jellyfish and
               dried squid combined from this firm, representing
               89 % of the firm's shipments examined.  The
               district collected and analyzed five and three
               samples of Salted Jellyfish and Dried Squid
               respectively, and found numerous insects, whole and
               fragments, striated hairs (rat/mouse, cat/dog,
               bat), and feathers.

GUIDANCE    : Districts may detain, without physical sampling and
              analysis, salted jellyfish and dried squid from the
              Hang Loong Marine Products Co., 48-50 First Street,
              Hong Kong.
