Medical Officer (2 vacancies)

The Office of Blood Research and Review (OBRR), Division of Hematology (DH), Clinical Review Branch (CRB) seeks two Medical Officers (GP-0602-14) with background in: Internal Medicine with training in Hematology; or, Emergency Care/Transfusion Medicine. In addition, it is preferable for the applicants to be familiar with regulations related to Investigational New Drug Applications, Biologics License Applications, etc.

Specifics related to the position:

  • Coordinate critical and timely reviews of Investigational New Drug Applications /Investigational Device Exemptions , Biologics License Applications /Biologics License Application Supplements, New Drug Applications /New Drug Application Supplements , 510( k)s and Premarket Approval Device Application s for a variety of plasma-derived or blood-derived products including Immune Globulin Intravenous products, hemoglobin-based oxygen c arriers and other resuscitation products, pathogen-inactivation devices and other products regulated under the Division of Hematology.
  • Review products with new indications or labels
  • Per form other duties as assigned by the CRB Chief

Qualifications:

Candidates must be a U.S. Citizen. Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy from a school in the United States or Canada approved by a recognized accrediting body in the year of the applicant's graduation. [A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school that provided education and medical knowledge substantially equivalent to accredited schools in the United States may be demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) (or a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country).] Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the above requirements if you can show that the foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.

Salary Range:

Salary is equivalent to GP-0602-14 base pay range of $83,445-$108,483 plus physician market pay (Title 38). Salary is commensurate with education and experience with an excellent benefits package. The candidate may also be eligible for the PHS Commissioned Corp.
