This affects users who are using remote access to the HEASARC caldb. Routines that use gtcalf (like quzcif) will identify but not download data files if $CALDB is set to http://heasarc.gsfc.nasa.gov/FTP/caldb. Users can try defining $CALDB as $CALDB = ftp://legacy.gsfc.nasa.gov but may run into GSFC firewall problems if this definition is used). These pages list the unique "good" files contained in the caldb.indx files for each instrument. 2004 Oct 21 The document "The Calibration Requirements for Spectral Analysis" (CAL/GEN 92-002) has been updated to clarify that the order of extensions is not significant in the RMF and ARF FITS files. A bug has been identified in the caltools task CMPRMF in which the LO_THRES keyword in the output file is not being updated in the current HEASOFT (5.3.1). This is being corrected. (This problem occurred because of security updates to the GSFC network.) 2000 Feb 29 HEASOFT 5.0 supports remote access of the HEASARC CALDB; users can access CALDB data files without having the CALDB installed locally.
