NCMHD Advisory Council Meeting 09-07

Good News and Inspiration

NCMHD Dir. John Ruffin Delegate to Congress Donna Christian-Christensen Sonja Harris-Haywood

Delegate to Congress Donna Christian-Christensen, D-VI, and Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus Health Braintrust, told the sixteenth meeting of the National Advisory Council on Minority Health and Health Disparities that “the Caucus and Congress were impressed with the strides NCMHD is making in trying to eliminate health disparities,” in spite of “political and budgetary impediments.”

As has become commonplace at Council meetings, grantees from several NCMHD programs showcased their research into ways to alleviate the health burdens of the underserved both domestically and internationally and eliminate health disparities. Their individual journeys, innovative strategies, and commitment were not only inspiring but reflected the effectiveness of NCMHD’s grant strategies and underscored the need to for more research on health disparity issues.
