Delegate to Congress Donna Christian-Christensen, (D-VI) and Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus Health Braintrust, told the sixteenth meeting of the National Advisory Council on Minority Health and Health Disparities that, “The Caucus and Congress were impressed with the strides NCMHD has made in trying to eliminate health disparities in the U.S. and addressing the disproportionate health burdens suffered by underserved Americans.” Speaking candidly, Dr. Christensen said those accomplishments have occurred under difficult circumstances. She said, “political and budgetary impediments have made the fight to eliminate health disparities more difficult.”
