Hi Dave,
This is an important issue and I for one would be against purging files
daily. That's what ORNL does and I have lost many files because of that. So
yes, it should be discussed if there are plans to change the current rules.

I've cc:ed this response to usgc, in case others want to speak up.
There has been on-and-off discussion about going with a different
/scratch quota model on franklin. In particular, there seems to
be a fair amount of support for purging old ( > 30 days?) files
daily, and either eliminating quotas or making them rather huge.
This could potentially encourage "touch scripts", and we'd have to
be on the lookout for that.
Anyway, should we bring this up at NUG? I suppose the AY rollover
is too close to make a significant change on Jan 8.
