Greeting NERSC SP User,
On Wednesday, December 15, NERSC will be moving all home
directories to a new file system. While the exact configuration
of this file system is still under review, there is one issue
that users need to be aware of:
THE ABSOLUTE PATHNAME OF HOME DIRECTORIES WILL CHANGE.
All users should verify that they are using the $HOME environment
variable in shell scripts, makefiles, batch scripts, etc. Explicitly
using values such as "/u4/myname" or "/usr/common/homes/m/myname" will
fail beginning on December 16.
Seaborg will be drained until 16:00 on December 15; any remaining
running batch jobs will be killed. Home directories will then be
copied to the new file system. The batch system will begin running
jobs after the new file system is in place. Any job that refers to
the old home file system will fail.
