Subject: Changes to NERSC web site authentication
Author: "Richard Gerber" <ragerber_at_nersc.gov>
Date: 2004-08-17 10:18:02
Dear NERSC User: NERSC is changing the way you access restricted content on the NERSC web site: www.nersc.gov. Beginning August 30, 2004, you will "log in" to view password-protected content using your NERSC Information Management (NIM) username and password. When you log in to the web site you also will be presented with information customized for you. This personal login will give you access to most of the web content that is currently protected using the "NERSC user" username and password. After August 29, 2004, the "NERSC user" web username and password will no longer work on most NERSC web pages. If you do not know your NIM password, you may obtain it from the NERSC Account Support office at 1-800-66-NERSC (1-510-486-8600), menu option 2. Most web pages at www.nersc.gov are free from access restrictions and will remain so. Only pages containing sensitive information (e.g. account info) require authentication. If you have questions, comments, or suggestions regarding this change, or the web site in general, please direct them to me. Thank you, Richard Gerber NERSC User Services ****************************************************** * Richard A.
