Director of Research and Strategic Planning for Thrift Savings Plan Selected

Washington, D.C. (June 4, 2008) – The Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board today announced that Renée Wilder has joined the Agency which administers the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) for Federal employees.  She serves as the Director of Research and Strategic Planning.

Before joining the TSP, Wilder was Executive Director of the National Tax Sheltered Accounts Association, the nation’s only financial services association focused on the non-profit and public retirement markets.  She was responsible for guiding and executing the strategic objectives, development, marketing and operational goals of the association.  Wilder also spent 17 years with MetLife, where she worked on private corporate debt/equity transactions and the retirement area.  She earned her B.A. from Duke University and her M.B.A. from Duke’s Fuqua School of Business.

Greg Long, Executive Director of the Board, said, “We are delighted to have someone of Renée’s exceptional caliber to help navigate our future challenges in improving the services and products for TSP participants.”  In her role, Wilder will serve as the chief research officer for the TSP and principal advisor to the Executive Director with respect to all product development and related policy matters.

The TSP is a retirement savings plan for Federal employees; it is similar to the 401(k) plans offered by many private employers. As of May 31, 2008, TSP assets totaled more than $230 billion, and retirement savings accounts were being maintained for more than 3.9 million TSP participants.  Participants include Federal civilian employees in all branches of Government, employees of the U.S. Postal Service, and members of the uniformed services.
