What is Benicar used for?  

Benicar is used to treat high blood pressure in adults. It may be used alone or with other medicines that treat high blood pressure.

Who should not take Benicar?  

Do not take Benicar if you are allergic to Benicar or to any of the ingredients in Benicar.

Special Warning with Benicar:

Do not take Benicar if you are pregnant. If you get pregnant while taking Benicar, stop taking Benicar right away and call your health care provider . Benicar and other medicines like Benicar can harm your baby.

What should I tell my health care provider?

Tell your health care provider if you:

  • are trying to become pregnant, are already pregnant, or are breast-feeding
  • have or had kidney problems

Tell your health care provider about all the medicines you take, including prescription and non-prescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements. Especially tell your health care provider if you are taking duiretics (water pills).

The most common side effect with Benicar is dizziness.
