The Morris K. Udall Foundation awards approximately eighty $5,000 merit-based scholarships each year.

Parks in Focus

Parks in Focus
In partnership with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Tucson, Parks in Focus takes 12 middle school students every summer to explore Arizona's natural wonders.

Internships

Native American Congressional Internship
The Morris K. Udall Foundation funds 12 Native Americans or Alaska Natives each summer for a ten-week internship in Washington, DC.

U.S. Institute for Environmental Conflict Resolution

U.S. Institute for Environmental Conflict Resolution
The U.S. Institute provides mediation, facilitation, convening and assessment services as well as training to help parties resolve environmental conflicts.

Fellowships

Dissertation Fellowships
The Morris K. Udall Foundation awards two one-year fellowships of up to $24,000 to doctoral candidates whose research concerns environmental public policy and/or environmental conflict resolution.

Native Nations Institute

Native Nations Institute
The Native Nations Institute serves as a self-determination, self-governance, and development resource for indigenous nations.

Programs of the Udall Foundation include the following:

  • Annual scholarships and fellowships to outstanding students who intend to pursue careers related to the environment.
  • Annual scholarships and internships to outstanding Native American and Alaska Native college students who intend to pursue careers in health care and tribal public policy.
  • Parks in Focus, which takes young people into national and state parks to expose them to the grandeur of the nation's natural resources and instill a sustainable appreciation for the environment.
  • The U.S. Institute for Environmental Conflict Resolution, which provides mediation and other services to assist in resolving federal environmental conflicts.
  • The Native Nations Institute for Leadership, Management, and Policy (NNI), which focuses on leadership education for tribal leaders and on policy research. The Morris K. Udall Foundation and the University of Arizona cofounded NNI, building on the research programs of the Harvard Project on American Indian Economic Development.

The Foundation also works in cooperation with the Udall Center for Studies in Public Policy at the University of Arizona on various activities, including environmental research and conflict resolution.
