Monique Adakai
Monique is a sophomore at The University of Arizona studying environmental science with a focus on policy. She is Chishi Diné from Big Mountain, Arizona. Currently, Monique is an Undergraduate Research Scientist in the UA’s Arizona Laboratory for Emerging Contaminants, researching the effects of pesticides and other contaminants on insect pollinators (primarily native bees). In addition, Monique is Vice President of the UA Chapter of the American Indian Science and Engineering Society. In her free time, Monique enjoys discussing politics, spending time with her family, visiting her grandmas in Big Mountain, helping grandma take care of her sheep, and running.

It's been incredible to meet so many dedicated and inspiring individuals, all striving to make the world a better place for our own and future generations. I left Orientation feeling renewed, motivated and supported by a community that I am very proud to be part of and which will strengthen and inspire me for years to come.
