ISM Hydrogen Column Density Search Tool

To determine the appropriate ISM parameters for the ISM Tool, this program is provided, which gives a set of reference ISM densities with a given position.
You may execute a search using either equatorial (J2000.0) or galactic (B1950.0) coordinates. Click the appopriate coordinate type button and enter the coordinates and a distance (in parsecs). The ISM server will return a table of hydrogen column density information on the ten sources nearest to the point in space that you selected. Some sources may be listed more than once if they have more than one reference number.

All the data come from the database published in The Distribution of Neutral Hydrogen in the Interstellar Medium (Fruscione et al., 1994, ApJSupp, 94, 127), plus additional new measurements from Diplas & Savage (1994, ApJSupp, 93, 211). Please refer to these papers for a complete description of the information provided by this service.
