Subject: [franklin-users] Franklin stability

Dear Franklin users, NERSC recognizes that Franklin stability issues have grown worse in February and are at an unacceptable level. We are engaged in daily meetings with Cray and are working on a number of options for improving stability. Since the Quad Core upgrade, our primary goal has been and will continue to be stability. Anyone wishing to hear about the stability issues are welcome to attend next Thursday's NERSC User Group teleconference at 9 AM Pacific time. Information on how to attend will be communicated early next week. Franklin has currently been down since 9:30 PM last night due to a failed disk controller to the /scratch file system. Efforts are now underway to recover as much of the /scratch file system as possible, although it is possible that some data will not be recoverable. We understand that this is impacting your research, and want to assure you that we are doing everything possible to bring the system back into production and stabilize it the long term. Sincerely, Kathy Yelick NERSC Director _______________________________________________ franklin-users mailing list franklin-users@nersc.gov
